Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can’t I do this myself?

A: DIY is not recommended for this type of project. The process of laying stamped concrete is an art, special tools and an experienced crew are necessary. So save yourself the frustration and contact us today.

Q: So how does stamped concrete compare to other popular materials, such as bricks and stones?

A: These products also look great and enhance the value of your home. And because they form a surface of many interlocking pieces, they’re helpful if you’re trying to cover uneven ground. It can be difficult to pour level concrete on an uneven surface. However, you’ll often see weeds popping up in the spaces between pavers while nothing should be able to grow up through concrete.

Q: What maintenance is required for stamped concrete?

A: Maintaining your newly stamped concrete is important. Periodically inspect cured and sealed surfaces for wear or damage.

All concrete curing compounds will eventually exhibit the effects of weathering and traffic. For maximum coating life and performance, wipe up all chemical solvent or petroleum spills as soon as possible. Remove abrasive debris by sweeping or vacuuming. Do not drag, drop or place sharp edges on sealed surfaces.

Periodic washings with mild detergents will help maintain surface luster. Do not use solvent or acid-based cleaning materials for general cleaning. Hot car tires or turning tires while your car is standing may damage the sealer. Surfaces that will be subjected to car traffic, de-icing salts or chemical exposure may exhibit wear more quickly. In most cases stamped concrete does not need to be sealed every year. A build-up of seal can cause delamination issues, so be sure to discuss re-sealing with us.

Q: How long does stamped concrete last?

A: Stamped concrete, if taken care of properly, can last 20+ years. Just like a regular concrete pour, the preparation and concrete mix will help extend the life of your slab. If properly prepped, poured and maintained – you will have a slab that will last for years.

Q: What types of applications is stamped concrete used?

A: Stamped concrete can be used for both residential and commercial projects.  At Samui Modern Concrete , we stamp patios, sidewalks, driveways, shop or garage floors.  Any concrete you want to give a more decorative look, you can stamp.
